Hi Lancer alums, I played field hockey and lacrosse and worked basketball statistics and for Sports Information. I am class of 1980 (an old timer!!). Currently I am a missionary in San Salvador, El Salvador. Before coming here almost a year ago, I was in Tanzania. Would like to hear from my teammates. I played on the Longwood field hockey team from '49 - '53. I was in the class of '53. Say hi to all of my team mates who attend, especially Nell Bradshaw (don't know married name) and Helen Castros, a suitemate for a couple of years and the best Goalie. I now live in Fla. and still play softball, swim and golf. Not bad for a 74 year old. We love it here in Spruce Creek Country Club/Dell Webb. Florence (Lee) Putnam (Class of 1941), accompanied by`Julia Putnam will travel from the state of Washington to attend the final game of Field Hockey on the 23rd. Florence enjoyed playing Field Hockey at Longwood some 65 years ago. Both are very much looking forward to joining you there and seeing the reconstruction of the Rotunda. Please welcome these special ladies.

In 1956, 1957 and 1958 I was a member of the hockey team. In those days if you were a physical education major, you played. Having never seen a field hockey game, I was as green as grass. However, I have memories of teammates, hockey camp and Miss Iler screaming at a teammate " you, big blond, run"! Miss Iler made quite an impact on my life and how I later presented myself as a coach and physical education teacher. She was literally, A GRAND LADY!
